Peter joined ERS from AIG where he was Global Head of Specialty and served as a member of AIG’s International Leadership Team.
Prior to AIG, Peter was CEO of Talbot and Head of the Insurance Segment for the Validus group.
ERS is a Lloyd’s underwriting business (Syndicate 218) that has been a leading motor insurer for over 70 years. As a motor only, broker only insurer, our policies are available exclusively through motor insurance brokers.
We offer a wide range of cover for private cars, classic cars, vans, supercars, imported vehicles, motorcycles, taxis, minibuses, fleets, haulage and agricultural vehicles, as well as for high risk drivers, sports people and celebrities.
Our history
ERS began life in 1946 as Equity Motor Policies, a Lloyd’s syndicate. In 1987 the company merged with Red Star to form Equity Red Star. Nine years later, the company was bought by Cox Insurance, a Lloyd’s underwriting business specialising in nuclear and catastrophe insurance.
Following a number of acquisitions, including a management buyout, the business was purchased by Aquiline in April 2013. We announced a new strategy to be a motor-only, broker-only insurer in 2014 and subsequently rebranded as ERS, concentrating on motor insurance and specialist products. Our focus and expertise are very much centred on protecting people’s passions or livelihoods.

Martin joined ERS from Pen Underwriting where he was Chief Underwriter Officer and his previous experience includes Director of Commercial Underwriting & Pricing at Direct Line Group & Head of Personal Lines Underwriting for Zurich UK.

Jonathan joined ERS in November 2016 after spending 10 years at Skype building the EMEA marketing function and leading marketing for a series of products and features used by hundreds of millions of people around the world.
