IN RESPONSE to growing demand for its SME Fleet product, specialist motor insurer ERS has doubled the capacity of its SME Fleet team and increased the number of vehicles the product can cover.
The SME team, all based in London, now stands at nine and is led by Senior Underwriter Sam Horton. Edem Ocrah, an experienced mini fleet underwriter, has joined from Zurich and Jasia Alam, a commercial motor underwriter, has joined from Tradex. In addition, ERS has chosen to invest in the development of new talent by recruiting Matt Osmond from IGO4 and Jack Hoy, who is starting his insurance career fresh from graduating.
ERS has also increased the number of vehicles that can be covered under the SME Fleet product from 9 to 14. This increase and the recruitment drive come as a direct result of broker demand for underwriting expertise in small fleets.
ERS Active Underwriter Mark Bacon said: "While other insurers are moving heaven and earth to commoditise everything they do for SME risks, we are actively bucking the trend.
"As a "motor only broker only" insurer, we know brokers value our knowledge and expertise and are not just looking for the cheapest quote, which often comes with a "take it or leave it" price. They generally want to speak to someone about their clients' risk to guarantee that the underwriter really understands it.
"Boosting the team and expanding the product is an exciting part of our continuing strategy to be the motor insurer of choice for brokers."
