Steve joins from The AA where he was instrumental in setting up its new Insurance Underwriting Company. As Head of Counter Fraud there he established and led a team of specialists to tackle fraud from point of quote through to claims management.
Steve has over 20 years' experience in fraud prevention and prior to The AA worked in senior anti-fraud roles for insurers including Swiftcover/AXA and Direct Line. While at Swiftcover/AXA he delivered a multi-award-winning initiative for combatting application and accompanying claims fraud through the development of a combined pre and post-sale solution to identify and validate abnormally high risk policy transactions utilising a number of disparate data sources.
In his new role Steve will lead ERS's fraud strategy including its recently consolidated operations across underwriting and claims. He will work with other in-house specialists across First and Third Party claims, Personal Injury and underwriting operations as well as its supplier network and anti-fraud organisations to build on the investments made in its intelligence-led processes as well as its application fraud prevention initiatives that ERS's brokers and distribution partners must adhere to.
Steve will be based in London and report to Claims Director, Peter Smith.
