Alan Bradbury, ERS’ Senior Underwriter for Enthusiast cars, has already sniffed out the best of the best that’ll be taking the grid this weekend – here are his top six!
- Toyota GT2000 – Stunning coupe, very rare, built between 1967-1970, with only 351 made! A decent one may cost around over £1m now. One was featured in the 1967 Bond film, You Only Live Twice, most of which was filmed in Japan.
- Lexus LFA – Only 500 ever made – it’s very rare to see one in the UK. I actually saw 2 on the Gumball 3000 rally which started in London this year, an event which ERS were the official underwriters for.
- Honda NSX – A mid-engine sports car, with input from Ayrton Senna with its design, aluminium body and VTEC engine. Honda are now producing a second generation version which is quite stunning too.
- Subaru Impreza 22B – Only 400 made, wide body and rally heritage (contemporary two-door) and is increasing in value significantly!
- Toyota Supra A80 – Has a twin turbo and can be tuned up to almost 1000 Bhp, and is one of the most iconic Japanese sports cars.
- Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R – A 4-wheel drive with 2.6 twin-turbo, it’s fast and typically Japanese. Very popular with tuners and drift-racers.
It’s not all about speed though – there are some quirky retro cars which are also extremely popular – Nissan Figaro, Mitsubishi Viewt, Nissan Pao, Subaru Samba, Toyota Sera, Honda Beat, Suzuki Cappuccino.
