Standing around on a cold, blustery Saturday morning in March isn’t everyone’s idea of fun, but not for the customers of Mountune, who attended the ‘Cars and Coffee’ morning at the Mountune HQ in Hutton, Essex this weekend.
I attended with my colleague and fellow Ford Enthusiast, Reis Jones, and met with the guys from Greenlight Insurance, who were there to launch the new Mountune scheme, along with some delicious Greenlight/Mountune branded cupcakes!
The scheme is underwritten by ERS under the modified vehicle product, via Greenlight, to cater for Mountune customers that purchase tuning packages for their beloved Fords, whether it be a Fiesta ST, Focus ST or RS or the iconic Mustang.
It was a great opportunity for customers to see inside the headquarters, see what new developments are taking place, and to pick up merchandise and order Mountune parts/kits. Several stunning cars were on display including a stunning red Ford GT, matt black Focus RS500, BTCC Focus and Tim Burton’s (aka Shmee150) Red Edition Focus RS (limited run of 300). It was also good to see a new performance package for the Mk8 Fiesta ST, which was also launched at the event.
The car park outside the HQ was full of modified Fords, many already boasting Mountune upgrades. Speaking to a couple of attendees, it was clear that many have had trouble obtaining competitive motor insurance where their cars had had ‘the Mountune treatment’. Many had gone to Mountune as they are the only recognised tuning company that offers packages where the vehicle’s base warranty is not affected – an attractive proposition for the would-be car modifier!
Reis and I are also Mountune customers and have also experienced difficulties in the past obtaining insurance for modified cars, with some insurers not fully understanding the modifications, or not covering them at all.
