Today is International Women’s Day which acts as a reminder of how important it is that we all help create an inclusive world.
Individually we’re all responsible for our thoughts and actions, and collectively we can all choose to challenge inequality, bias and stereotypes.
We are proud that Marjorie Adejumo, Head of Regional Development has been recognised as one of the UK's top females in insurance in the IBUK Elite Women 2021 report. The list contains women who are forging a path for both current colleagues and future industry professionals. Congratulations from everyone at ERS Marjorie!
Marjorie commented “I am delighted and honoured to have been nominated and recognised in Insurance Business UK’s Elite Women 2021 report. Congratulations to, everyone recognised for their amazing contribution to the industry.
International Women’s Day gives us a chance to celebrate all the women who we know from all areas of our lives. Thinking about the women in the insurance industry; to all those I know personally and those I’ve yet to meet. It’s easy to forget in the busyness of life how much your personal contribution matters. You make a difference in small ways and in big ways every single day! I look back and realise this industry has come a long way but still has a long way to go. That is why it’s important for us to celebrate who we are and everything we bring to the table, be that the board room table or the kitchen table. It’s all important, it all matters, it all makes a difference. So, let’s celebrate!”
When we think about the unique and unforeseen challenge of the last 12 months it would be fair to say there have been both difficulties and positives that have arisen. Many of us have found ourselves working in a more flexible way which has historically been a barrier for women at work. Research by Behavioural Insights suggested this could also boost applications from women for top jobs by as much as 20%.
At ERS we are committed to being inclusive and contributing to the positive change the industry is making. From challenge comes change, so let's all #ChooseToChallenge #IWD2021
We would like to take the opportunity to thank all the remarkable women at ERS and the industry for the brilliant work they do. Another thank you goes to those around them that have played a key part in supporting them to be brilliant, be that as a mentor, friend, partner or role model.
